Sci-Fi Space Ship Deck Plan Stencils
I have drawn myself deck plan shapes and made them in to ViSiO for Windows, stencils. These are designed to match the style of the Original Traveller® game. Based round a 1.5m square.
These stencils were created with Visio 2000.
Download
Download the Sci-Fi Visio stencils in a Zip file format [760k] - version 1.4
What's included?
Within the zip file is a template workspace, three Stencils and a sample completed Spaceship. The three stencils are Starship, Starship labels and Traveller.
Starship Stencil
This contains all the elements to create a ship. Various shapes to create hulls, cabins and doors.
Starship Labels Stencil
This is just the standard parts of a Traveller space ship. They are set in a font size to match the standard template scale. It saves having to create exactly the same text for all your ships. Just drag and drop these in place.
Also on this stencil are various keys to the symbols to include on your finished plans.
Traveller Stencil
This contains standard ships that are used regularly as ships boats or as the basis for a modified ship. (At the moment there is only one Launch.) You can add you own small ships to this stencil.
Other things to use
As all the Sci-Fi objects are created to scale, all of the other Stencils included with Visio can be used on your Space ships plans. The office layout shapes, funiture and Bathrooms and kitchen stencils provided by the Technical edition of Visio 2000 are all compatible with the Starship stencils.
Although Traveller Deck plans do not normally include furniture, you could elaborate on a standard plan and add furniture details using the standard ViSiO stencils.
Public Domain
As long as you own a copy of Microsoft Visio you may use the drawings for any purpose.

Off Road Driving
Yesterday, 4 September 1998, my wife and I went on a days training on how to drive off road. We enjoyed it so much I thought it was worth putting a few pictures on this page.
What did we do?
We were given a concise lesson on the theory of off road driving including some safety aspects, then a short demonstration, with us in the Land Rover. After the demonstration we were each given a chance to drive around the site for ourselves. At all times we were under the supervision of the very professional, but also friendly, instructors.
I have made some notes of the techniques we were taught, but pictures are the best way to show you what we did:
Up, up again, over, round and down.
Where did we do it?
We were recommended to a company called 'Pro-Trax Off-Road Adventures' who, as the name suggests, offer off-road driving courses. They cater for people who are just interested like ourselves, to corporate days out, and also professional training to those who may need to drive off-road for a living.
Their site covers many acres. We went between several areas. The photos give an idea of the size of just two parts of the site.
The first two picture show the size of the specially constructed training area. The wooded area, we drove in, was too dark to take photos, so we only have a picture of a glade we passed through. The water in the third picture was a little too deep for us to do on our first day. We actually came from round the corner, where the deep tyre tracks lead in to the picture.
We did do a shallow water crossing at the end of the day.

The day we did was called a 'Gift Voucher', this is a special rate for birthdays etc..
Would we do it again?
Yes, we plan to go back as often as we can.
