While there was a digger hanging about because of the building works we took the opportunity to run a water pipe across the field to where we wanted drinkers.
We thought it was a good idea but August is not the right time to dig through Essex clay. I think concrete would have been easier to get through.
We filled the trench with water to try to soften the soil so we could get deeper. It's a bit shallower than we would have liked but far enough under the surface to not risk any damage and probably won't freeze.
Everybody wanted a go on the digger :-)
By running the water to the corner of the fields we could deal with all three fields in one run.
Ready to add the drinkers in the future.
